Officers opting for the rovised conditions of service will no longer be allowed free rail or steamer fares for themselves or members of their families to certain destinations in the United Kingdom when on leave and proceeding between the port of arrival or embarkation and their homes.

PENSIONS AND GRATUITIES

33. Changes in the Pensions Ordinanco, No.21 of 1932, and Pension Regulations B made under that Ordinance are at present under consideration. In this connection it should be noted that house allowance will not be added to the sal-ry on which pension is calculated under the new terms but provision will be made for the addition of expatriation pay to basic ray in the calculation of pensions and gratuities. Secretary of State has not yet reached a decision on the Salaries Commission's general recommendations regarding retirement on or after reaching the age of 45. While the right to apply to retire at 45 will be retained for non- gazetted Police officers in the proposed pension be gislation, officers who opt to come on to the new terms should note that the Secretary of State's eventual decision in this respect may have the effect of reducing to 45 the age at which they may be required to retire.

34. An example of how officers can make a rough estimate calculation.of their probable ponsion under Pension Regulations B is

(a)

his or her total pension calculated as above,

or

(b) a reduced pension and gratuity.

If option (b) is exercised the reduced pension wi 11 be calculated at of the total annual pension he would have re ceived under (a); and the gratuity will equal ten times the annual value of the deduction from the full pension.

Example: The officer in the example above elects to receive a reduced pension and gratuity. Full pension would have been $7,200.
